Freight carloads for U.S. railroads during the week ending Feb. 25 dropped 5% from year-ago levels, and intermodal volume slipped 2.8%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Overall North American cargo volume for the first eight weeks of the year is down 0.3% year-on-year, while intermodal activity grew 1.6%, according to the AAR.
