AMR Corp. is making headway on its pensions, but likely will be forced to ask U.S. Bankruptcy Court to void union contracts, according to statements made during a court hearing by lawyer Harvey Miller. AMR still hopes to reach a mutual agreement with labor unions, but has said that contract negotiations still leave it far short of meeting its goal of reducing labor costs by $1.25 billion annually.
