Education officials in San Diego are considering revising their fee structure to bring more charter schools back into the district's special-education program. In recent years, about half of the charters in the district began seeking services elsewhere, as the district raised fees from $440 per student in 2004 to $888 per student it charges today. District officials say the new arrangement also would allow the charters to benefit from the district's special-education knowledge.
