HTC has expanded its holdings into streaming video by taking a 20% stake in SyncTV, Intertrust's cloud-based service that reaches such platforms as iOS, Android, Windows Phone, the Xbox and smart TVs, the companies announced Monday. HTC will license some of Intertrust's patents, especially in regard to digital rights management. Also at HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone-maker warned customers that they must back up their HTCSense.com online storage data by April 30 or it will be deleted as part of the company's overhaul of the service.
