The Los Angeles school district has hired a social media director who has been given the task of launching -- or relaunching -- and maintaining Facebook and Twitter pages and a YouTube account for the district. Stephanie Abrams, a former television reporter, also will help develop school websites. "Having a full-time social media director on staff will help us get critical messages to students, teachers, administrators and parents more quickly and efficiently," said Tom Waldman, the district's director of media and communications.
