Federal regulators have been inundated by public comments regarding the Volcker rule, but they say they weren't surprised by the quantity of feedback. The rule's complexity and its core goals guaranteed that it would spark plenty of debate, says acting Comptroller of the Currency John Walsh. "There are a lot of people who just don't like the basic idea of the rule and I think a certain amount of the criticism is from that quarter," Walsh said.
