U.S. researchers have developed a norbornene-based cross-linkable monomer that could help boost the performance and efficiency of fuel cells. The technology, which exhibits anion conductivity, has properties similar to nonmetal anion-exchange membranes but can "increase the anion capacity beyond two anions per metal using other, perhaps cheaper, metals," said Gregory N. Tew, one of the lead researchers.
