Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., introduced legislation today that would require a percentage of the country's electricity to come from renewable sources. Bingaman admits that such a proposal will be difficult to pass through Congress this year. "I don't entertain the illusion that the proposal will sweep through Congress and [be] signed into law this year, but I think it's an important discussion to have this year," Bingaman said.
