Students at a California elementary school are using a campus garden to grow vegetables that are harvested for them to eat in the school cafeteria. The cafeteria salad bar recently included about 20 pounds of lettuce and chips made from kale the students grew. "The best way to get kids involved in healthy eating is to involve them in the process from the seed to the table," said Kevin La Pittus, director of Encinitas Union School District's Food Services.
