Clay Naito, an associate professor at Lehigh University, has conducted experiments to gauge the strength required for a building to survive a tsunami. The expert says he intends to work with scientists at Oregon State University to determine how debris carried by storm surges could cause property damage in coastal areas during a hurricane. The research is receiving funding from the National Science Foundation, and the findings will be used in revising computer models.
