U.K. prosecutors are seeking to clamp down on racist tweets aimed at celebrities and high-profile soccer players, with one student sentenced to community service and another facing jail after posting a string of racist messages about an injured player. "Ironically, the strongest evidence in each of these cases has been directly provided by the defendants themselves. When a person makes such comments digitally, they effectively hand police and prosecutors much of the evidence needed to build a robust case against them," said Wendy Williams of the Crown Prosecution Service.
