Hotels continue to struggle to comply with revised American with Disabilities Act rules requiring pool lifts in hotels, despite a deadline extension to May 21. Industry groups such as AH&LA are requesting another extension over persisting confusion as to the requirements. "There is a lot of misinformation or misunderstanding what the ADA requires, and that's compounded by local enforcement agencies: whether or not it applies to only new construction; fixed versus portable lifts; the Department of Justices' term 'readably achievable,' " said Kevin Maher, AH&LA's senior vice president of governmental affairs.
