Windstream has taken the first step to providing Web-based video services to subscribers and promises it will be far from the last. The telecom announced Thursday that it will launch Merge, an over-the-top service that delivers content such as Hulu Plus and Netflix over Roku set-top boxes as well as to wireless and PC platforms for $2 a month. "Consumers are clamoring for alternatives," said Windstream Vice President David Redmond.
