A study in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases found that women with both inflammatory arthritis and hypothyroidism faced higher risk of heart disease than patients with inflammatory arthritis or hypothyroidism alone. Women with both conditions had an odds ratio of 3.72 for heart disease, compared with 1.48 among inflammatory arthritis patients and 1.19 among hypothyroidism patients. However, the results warrant further analysis, researchers said.
