Advanced Micro Devices increased its share of shipments in the x86-architecture processor market to 19.1% in the first quarter, up from 18.2% a year ago, according to Mercury Research. Intel's market share slipped year-to-year from 81% to 80.2%. AMD benefited from growth in desktop and mobile processors during the period, said Dean McCarron, principal analyst at Mercury Research.
