After the sale of business-jet-maker Hawker Beechcraft to Superior Aviation Beijing collapsed, the company is making plans to exit bankruptcy as a stand-alone company. According to a statement, "if no satisfactory bids are received," the Hawker jet line could be closed and the company renamed Beechcraft Corp., with a focus on building civilian turboprops and military trainers.
The Federal Aviation Administration plans to expand its use of iPads among agency personnel. By 2014, the FAA will allow employees to replace laptops with iPads, this feature says. The agency is also considering the use of Android tablets as well.
Bert Mackentepe, a certified flight instructor, has taught at Wallace State for more than 30 years. The college's flight lessons are held at Cullman Airport-Folsom Field in Vinemont, Ala. "We have beginning, intermediate and advanced students in everything from flight instructor, private license and helicopter," Mackentepe said.
Three business leaders encouraged Thayer, Mo., officials to invest in a local airport. The airport has one runway, which is scheduled to be resealed. However, city leaders are uncertain about whether to proceed with the resealing project, which is funded by the state.
Richard I. Bong Memorial Airport in Wisconsin received approval from the Superior City Council for airport improvements. Some of the improvements are designed to spur development of a plant by Kestrel Aircraft, which plans to locate in Superior.
