A good way to lose weight is to crowd out unhealthy foods by adding in healthier choices, says Kathy Freston, author of "The Lean: A Revolutionary (and Simple!) 30-Day Plan for Healthy, Lasting Weight-Loss." She suggests drinking water before meals, eating an apple a day, adding flaxseed to the diet and finding plant-based alternatives to meat products.
