The Gas Technology Institute is having an open house today at its pilot-scale biomass-to-fuel plant in Chicago. The facility uses agricultural residues and other biomass to produce a liquid transportation fuel that is compatible with current infrastructure, GTI said. Experts at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have determined that GTI's technology would produce a fuel that could be sold for as low as $1.60 per gallon, the group added.
