State and federal politicians are throwing their support behind efforts to convince the U.S. Congress to institute a national sales tax regimen for online shopping. Big-box stores like Wal-Mart are in favor of the move in the hopes that it would neutralize the benefits e-tailers have received from being able to conduct sales without charging sales tax for out-of-state purchases.
