Marriott International continues to study the prospect of creating a brand for conversion properties in the select-service segment, said Liam Brown, chief operations officer for Marriott Americas' select-service and extended-stay markets. "Part of our challenge is, you have to clearly define what that space is. ... We continue to look at it and try to see where the opportunities are," he said. Brown also noted continued efforts to revitalize the company's Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn brands.
