The Connecticut Department of Education this spring will work to prepare school nutrition professionals to implement new federal meal standards. "It's an excellent opportunity for all schools to be on the same playing field," said Seymour Food Services Director Cindy Brooks, chairwoman of the School Nutrition Association's public policy and legislative committee. "Here in Connecticut, we've been offering a lot of healthy foods already. There is a concern this will increase our costs, but it's the right thing to do."
