The nonprofit Fit4Kids has funded a program at a Virginia elementary school in which students learn about nutrition by working in a school garden and taking cooking classes. This is the first school garden that Fit4Kids has helped to fund, and there are plans for five more gardens in 2013. Students recently planted tomatoes, basil and lettuce, and eventually officials hope the garden produces vegetables that can be used in school cooking lessons.
