Competitive pricing in a market offering various models is one factor driving British consumers over 50 to buy smartphones, with that age bracket accounting for more than half of all recent smartphone purchases, according to figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. The research also found that "over-50s mobile use replicates much of what they do at home on their PC or laptop. In contrast, under-50s tend to use their phones and computers for different purposes," said Dominic Sunnebo, the research firm's global consumer insight director.
