Property/casualty insurers have paid damage claims and provided other assistance to victims of tornadoes in Alabama last year, enabling affected communities to rebuild. "In meeting its financial obligations to policyholders, [the insurance industry] has played a pivotal role in helping Alabama recover economically from the most significant insurance event to hit our state since Hurricane Ivan in 2004," said Renee Carter of the Alabama Insurance Information Service.
