The concrete of the electronic control tunnel at NextEra Energy's nuclear power plant in Seabrook, N.H., was found to be "operable but degraded," according to an inspection report from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The report raised concerns over the long-term effect of alkali-silica reaction on the building's structural integrity. A separate audit by the International Atomic Energy Association noted that groundwater seepage was discovered shortly after the plant's completion yet it took more than 20 years to reassess the conditon of the structure's concrete.
