Piceatannol, a compound similar to resveratrol, binds to insulin receptors of immature fat cells, inhibiting cellular processes that enable them to develop, according to a study in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. However, researchers "need to work on improving the stability and solubility of piceatannol to create a biological effect," researcher Kee-Hong Kim said.
