Salmonella remained the most common form of contamination in the FDA's review of the second year of its Reportable Food Registry, accounting for 38.2% of the reports from Sept. 8, 2010, to Sept. 7, 2011. The review cited three examples of the reporting system helping to prevent contaminated products from reaching consumers or causing outbreaks.
