Andrea Enria, head of the European Banking Authority, said securitisation of loans into bonds that are then sold to investors provides access to capital markets. "Securitisation by itself is not necessarily a bad thing" if underlying loans are of good quality, Enria said. He also noted that Europe needs to take a coordinated approach to helping banks de-risk.
