Singapore Airlines will debut its new budget offshoot Scoot with a Singapore-to-Sydney flight on June 4, followed by Singapore-to-Gold Coast flights soon after. Scoot says its fares will beat those of Qantas and Singapore Airlines by as much as 40%, although meals, checked baggage and seat choice will cost extra. Economy passengers will have the option of renting an iPad 2 as part of the airline's in-flight entertainment options.
