The single nucleotide polymorphisms rs1260326 from glucokinase regulatory protein and rs738409 from patatin-like phospholipase 3 jointly increased obese children and adolescents' susceptibility to develop liver disease, a study found. In the journal Hepatology, researchers noted that both SNPs were responsible for 39% of the hepatic fat content variance in blacks, 32% in whites and 15% in Hispanics.
