Practitioners called upon to perform overnight PCI procedures are able to do procedures safely the following day, according to a study being published in the journal Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. The single-site study tracked the performance of four highly experienced interventional cardiologists over five years to evaluate any effects on efficacy and safety. Lead investigator Dr. Vitalie Crudu said more study is needed, as research has linked sleep deprivation to errors in other areas of medicine.
