Rather than teaching Spanish through rote memorization of vocabulary words and rules, Jeanette Borich adopted a new approach in which she uses storytelling to help students learn a foreign language. Borich, a member of the Teacher Leaders Network, said the focus transitions from how to use the language to what was said. Borich offers tips for teachers adopting a new instructional technique, including getting midyear feedback from students and making adjustments along the way.
