Tumblr will begin accepting paid ads for the first time, CEO David Karp announced, adding that he had probably been an "idiot" to bad-mouth digital advertising in past interviews. The blogging service will allow marketers to advertise using the "Radar" section, which appears on users' dashboards and are currently dedicated to showcasing notable or popular content from across the network. The Radar format will allow marketers to be more creative than the boxy, text-heavy ads found on Google and Facebook, Karp added.
