Vanguard Health Chicago said its four hospitals will phase out sugary beverages, including soda and sports drinks, and eventually remove diet beverages, sweetened juices and drinks that contain more than about a teaspoon of sugar per 12 ounces. "This really fit in with our mission to help people achieve health for life," said MacNeal Hospital executive Scott Steiner, whose facility also has removed deep fryers, changed vending-machine food and added more nutritious offerings in its cafeteria.
