Contrary to a claim recently made by an economist, empowering women to act in the global economy would help everyone, including men, writes Maha Atal. For example, a 2007 report by Goldman Sachs showed that shrinking the gender gap would boost U.S. gross domestic product. "In other words, female economic empowerment does create additional resources, lots of them, that make everyone better off," she writes.
