Security experts say companies may be wasting resources on cybersecurity efforts if those resources are not being allocated properly. Ross Parsell, Thales UK's director of cyber strategy, says unwitting businesses regularly spend more than they need to on cybersecurity by failing to make a distinction between critical assets and those unlikely to ever be the target of a cyber-attack. In most cases, existing infrastructure is sufficient to address as much as 80% of all security issues, according to Integralis' Alastair Broom, who says businesses should invest in talent, not technology.
