While the rest of the country enjoyed the warm winter, fruit growers in Wisconsin are feeling its toll on their crops as the early spring caused many plants to bud early, now making them vulnerable to cold. Some growers use propane heaters to keep the crops from freezing. "It looked like we did OK. The problem is we've still got the whole rest of April, May, and it's hard to predict if we're going to get more cold temperatures or not," said Rami Aburomia, farm manager at Eplegaarden Orchard in Fitchburg, Wis.
