A study by researchers at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City found that women with HIV have a higher risk of developing anal cancer. Among 715 HIV-infected women who participated in the study, 10.5% developed some kind of anal disease and about 1 in 3 of those had precancerous conditions. Researchers said physicians should consider anal cancer screening for all HIV-infected women and men.
