Data on 26 overweight or obese black girls ages 9 to 14 showed that those who followed a moderately restricted carbohydrate diet attained higher fasting insulin levels and lower triglyceride rates at five weeks than did those who followed a standard diet. However, researchers did not observe a significant difference in weight loss between the groups. The findings appear in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
