Amtrak and BNSF are partnering with the California Department of Transportation on a $38 million track project in Los Angeles. The project will add nearly four miles to the region's track network as part of a $163 million, 15-mile expansion plan. "Investments such as this will help improve rail passenger service, while maintaining consistent and reliable rail freight capabilities within the region," said D.J. Mitchell, BNSF assistant vice president of passenger services.
