A new online spelling bee competition, OzSpell 2012, has launched for students in Australia. Organiser Lili Hampel said the competition was started to address a decline in literacy in the country, which has been caused -- in part -- by students' dependence on technology. Students who participate will compete online, spelling words from a list of 2,500, prior to competing in a school-level spelling contest.
