The railroad industry's plan to hire 5,000 veterans this year was praised by Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va. Railroads "not only value veterans, they prize West Virginians and our work ethic," said Rahall. "We are honored to be an engine of economic development in West Virginia, and this ongoing partnership with the armed forces will put West Virginia's returning war heroes into well-paying, long-term careers," said AAR President and CEO Edward Hamberger.
