More than 75% of U.S. homes now have HDTVs, a 14% increase over 2011, and 40% have more than one HD set, Nielsen reported. Despite 61% of prime-time viewing taking place on an HD set in May, only 25% of cable prime time and 29% of English-language broadcast prime time happened in "true HD" -- meaning an HD set is hooked up to an HD signal and HD channels are being watched.
