Patients with extensive coronary artery disease were 33% more likely to develop diabetes than those with less significant coronary artery disease, according to a study presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting. Researchers examined 506 patients and found 26.4% of those with severe heart disease developed diabetes in 7.5 years, compared with 16.4% of patients with less extensive CAD.
