A 2012 Massachusetts Medical Society survey found about 74% of state physicians were familiar with accountable care organizations and some 60% were likely to join a voluntary ACO, up from 58% and 29%, respectively, in 2011. Data also showed about 65% of respondents were familiar with global payment models and 49% said they were likely to be part of such a system, up from 57% and 42% last year.
