Freight carload traffic on U.S. railroads fell 4.3% in the week ending Nov. 17 versus year-ago levels, but intermodal climbed 2.4%, according to the Association of American Railroads. North American chemical shipments dropped 4.1% in the latest week. However, U.S. petroleum shipments continued its growth streak, rising 54.2% year-on-year, AAR noted.
