The volume of rail carloads originated by U.S. railroads dropped 5.4% in the week ending Nov. 10 versus year-ago levels, but intermodal rose 1.9% in the same period, according to the Association of American Railroads. Petroleum shipments climbed 45.5% in the latest week, which is the highest gainer among the 12 carload categories that registered growth, AAR noted.
