A study in Diabetes revealed youth with type 1 diabetes had decreased fractional anistropy in the superior parietal lobule and lower mean diffusivity in the thalamus compared with the control group. Lower anisotropy and higher diffusivities in the superior parietal lobule and hippocampus were also linked to patients having had at least three episodes of severe hyperglycemia, researchers noted.
