The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reported a deer has tested positive for rabies, marking the state's first known rabid deer. "This is just another reminder of how important it is to vaccinate" other animals, such as horses, said state public health veterinarian Joni Scheftel. Roughly 60 to 70 animals each year test positive for rabies in the state, and most are skunks and bats.
