Consuming 300 grams of vegetables and 25 milliliters of plant oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids daily may curb DNA damage that results in mutagenesis and/or carcinogenesis in type 2 diabetes patients, researchers reported in Molecular Nutrition and Food Research. Patients who did not eat the vegetables and plant oils also showed decreased A1C levels but did not attain a reduction in oxidative damage to DNA.
